Costa Rica's
lush vegetation, amazing
biodiversity, and stable political and economic culture, have made it

25.58 % of the country
is composed of
conservation and natural protected territory covering only 0.03% of
Earth's surface Costa Rica has 6% of the world's total biodiversity,
gaining its reputation of paradise regained. You will find w hite,
black, and pink shell beaches on both coasts; mountains, rivers, oceans
and lakes, resounding silence, and lively nightlife, proving there is
truly something for everyone.
Costa Rica boasts of one
of the
oldest and more consolidated democracies in Latin America. In 1869,
primary education for both sexes was declared obligatory and free of
cost. In 1882 the death sentence was abolished. In the 1949 the armed
forces were abolished and in 1983 Perpetual Neutrality was proclaimed,
reflecting the peaceful way of Costa Rica's people.
Half a century without a
military has
allowed investment in Education, Public Safety and Health Care,
fostering a culture of social peace.
“Ticos” (as
Costa
Ricans are affectionately known) are famous for the warmth and
hospitality. Very proud of their beautiful land they are quick to help
visitors with any need or question.
Though agriculture has
traditionally
been the basis of the country's economy, in recent years there has been
a shift towards tourism and other service industries. Investment
friendly environment, high education levels and government policy of
making Costa Rica the “Silicon Valley of Latin
America” has enticed commercial leaders such as Microsoft,
Acer, Intel, GE, Hewlett Packard, and Abbot Laboratories among others
to make sizable investments here, both financially and physically with
major production and distribution facilities.
Any foreigner who is
temporarily in
the country has the right to receive health attention at hospitals and
clinics in case of an emergency, sudden illness or a chronic disease.
Costa Rica boasts a modern and renown medical health system, under the
administration of the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS)
The Costa Rican
constitution
guarantees the right to Property Ownership to Costa Ricans and
foreigners alike (Beachfront properties have some restrictions).
